C-Brace Stance Control KAFO from OttoBock

C-Brace® KAFO

The Buchanan Clinic is pleased to announce a new clinical partnership with OttoBock to provide the C-Brace in Scotland, with clinics in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Ayr.

Reshaping the future. The C-Brace opens up entirely new possibilities for users with its microprocessor sensor technology. Flexing under load while sitting down, navigating slopes, walking on uneven terrain, or going down stairs step over step–all this defines a new level of mobility. The C-Brace is smaller and lighter, so the user does not need to exert as much energy while walking. This also allows the user to wear the orthosis underneath their clothing. The microprocessor sensor makes the entire gait pattern more dynamic and responsive. The user can also change settings on their joint: switching to cycling mode, using the smartphone app.

New freedom of movement

The new C-Brace® allows you to experience a whole new world of movement. At last you can walk slowly or quickly, negotiate slopes or rough terrain, avoid trip hazards, descend stairs step-over-step or flex the leg while it’s under load.

Small and lightweight

The new C-Brace® is small enough to be worn inconspicuously under clothing. Because it’s lightweight, you spend less effort while walking.

Enhanced safety while walking

The C-Brace® responds in real-time. This makes you feel safe even when facing potential trip hazards – because they can take steps, sit down with the knee flexed, and walk on uneven terrain or slopes.

App control for users and orthotists

Users can control their C-Brace® with the convenient Cockpit app, for example, when switching to cycling mode. The orthotist uses the Setup app to adjust the CBrace® in simple steps individually.

Dynamic movement patterns

The new sensor technology makes the C-Brace® even more intuitive to use; movement patterns are even more dynamic and responsive.

C-Brace Frequently Asked Questions

How can I find out whether the C-Brace® is suitable for me?

The C-Brace® can be used for numerous neurological indications. However, only a detailed assessment by one of our certified Orthotists can determine whether the C-Brace® is actually suitable in your specific case.

What is the weight limit of the C-Brace?

The weight limit for the C-Brace is 125Kg

Assuming the C-Brace® is a suitable option for me – can I test the orthosis first?

Before you are fitted with a C-Brace® orthosis, we can use a diagnostic trial orthosis to determine whether you will be able to use the functions of the C-Brace®. The test device can be ordered for a trial from OttoBock if after assessment it is determined that you are suitable for the C-Brace.

How long does it take to learn to walk with the C-Brace®?

Many different factors determine how soon you can walk with the C-Brace® and whether you are capable of exploiting its full functionality. As always, your personal physical condition is an important factor here. However, your certified orthotist will provide you with expert advice regarding this as well.

How do I learn to use the C-Brace®?

When you are fitted with a C-Brace®, your orthotist will of course explain the proper use of the orthosis to you in detail. In the course of special training and exercises, you will learn everything you need to know in order to use your C-Brace® to its best advantage.

Can I shower with the C-Brace® orthosis?

The C-Brace® is not suitable for showering.

What is the cost of the C-Brace?
